Jafar Petgar
Jafar Petgar (born in February 1921in Tabriz – died on 25 September 2005 in Tehran) He was one of the contemporary masters of carpet painting. His most famous works are kept in Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts. In 1940, Master Petgar, together with his brother, Ali Asghar Petgar, founded the first private painting school in Iran (Tehran – Naderi Street) and taught students along with his artistic creations. A few years later, Jafar Petgar to He founded a school in Tehran’s Manochehri Street and then a few years later in Tehran’s Hedayat Street. Often, the artists who came to Naderi Cafe also went to his studio, or met each other in various circles and gatherings. Like Jalal Al-Ahmad, Sadegh Hedayat, Boghor Alavi, and others like Forough Farrokhzad, Sohrab Sepehri and Hannibal Khas, have painted alongside him.
