Aydin Aghdashloo (born November 28, 1944 in Rasht)

Aydin Aghdashloo is an Iranian painter, designer, graphic artist, writer, and lecturer. He played an important role in collecting Iranian and world art and organized many exhibitions in Iran after the revolution; he was also involved in establishing the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art and the Reza Abbasi Museum. After the revolution, Aydin Aghdashloo is considered one of the most famous painting masters for the third generation of modern Iranian painters. Aghdashloo was the first director of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art for a short time when it was first opened, he opened the Reza Abbasi Museum in Tehran, and he himself became the first director of the museum until 1978. Between 1976 and 1978, Aydin Aghdashloo helped open and establish the Museums of Glass and Ceramics and Contemporary Arts in Tehran, and the Museums of Kerman and Khorramabad.
Aydin Aghdashloo has only held two solo exhibitions so far. His artwork is known for its depiction of the idea of ​​death and gradual extinction, as well as for recreating classic works in a modern and surrealist format.
His collection Memories of Destruction and Years of Fire and Snow are among Aydin Aghdashloo’s most important works. Some of Aydin Aghdashloo’s paintings are kept in the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Tehran, and most of his paintings are in private collections.
