Born in 1943, Tehran, Iran Mahmoud Zanderoudi, nicknamed Zanderoudi, is a painter of the Saqakhaneh generation. Another characteristic of his works is calligraphy in his paintings. Letters are the dominant form and shape for him. Most of Zanderoudi's work materials are recycled materials such as newspaper scraps, book scraps, and cardboard. The environment is important to him, and by using handmade paper, stamps, clichés, numbers, and letters and their repetition, he tries to create a new method in Iranian visual arts. He even used this method for another exhibition in which he displayed a number of clothes. In his works, he pays attention to the elements of water, soil, wind, and fire. He has been engaged in journalism for many years and considers this job to be very influential on his works.
