Sadegh Tabrizi
Sadegh Tabrizi (1938–2017) was a painter, designer, calligrapher, and pioneer of modern Iranian art. He was born in Tehran and studied miniature painting and interior architecture. He is considered a prominent figure of the Saqqakhaneh school and one of the founders of calligraphy, and he performed the first experiments in calligraphy on ceramic panels.By combining Iranian calligraphy, painting, traditional motifs, and an approach influenced by abstract expressionism, Tabrizi created a personal and innovative language in contemporary Iranian painting. His works often centered on calligraphy, romantic and religious themes, and symbolic compositions, and were exhibited both domestically and internationally. He was also active in the fields of interior architecture and mural painting, and received numerous awards and recognitions over more than five decades of artistic activity.
