Monir Shahroudi Farmanfarmaian (1982-2019, Qazvin, Iran) is a painter, sculptor, and pioneer of modern art. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran from 1944 to 1946. He also studied at Cornell University in New York and the Parsons School of Design in the field of fashion illustration. Monir Farmanfarmaian has met prominent artists such as Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, and Andy Warhol, and his acquaintance with Warhol led to a collaborative project. Mirror work, architectural design, rhythm, and order are among the characteristics of Monir’s work, which also features modernist abstract approaches.

Farmanfarmaian has held many exhibitions, the most important of which is the solo exhibition Infinite Possibilities at the Guggenheim Museum. The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Lord Lython Museum in London, the Museum of Fine Arts in Ottawa, Japan, are some of the other exhibitions of this artist. He has also exhibited several installations in various museums and galleries.

This prominent artist passed away on April 21, 2019, at his home in Qazvin.
